Subject: Possibly A Once In A Lifetime Event
Subject: Possibly A Once In A Lifetime Event
Fans of Ween (of which I am definitely one) know just how important and special these two nights in Nashville were - and to have the players on the 12 Golden Country Greats album present to make such a show possible.
All of these performances can only be described as absolutely pristine - unlike other groups these days who treat such concerts as nothing more than a cash grab, and the audience be damned. As for this audience, it is evident that they know the material, judging from their ability to sing along with all of the tunes. Many bands tend to rely on the crowd to fill in the blanks when they forget their own lyrics, or are unable to hit certain notes anymore - but oh no, not Ween! Both they and the Shit Creek Boys came very well rehearsed, and it was up to the audience to keep up and hang on, which they did extremely well, I must say.
Of the set list, some have noted that the only song missing from the lineup was "I'm Holding You," which makes sense, since the Jordanaires, for whatever reason, were not available to provide the authenticity Ween audiences have come to expect. If this is their only "sin", it's one that can be easily forgiven (like that's even something that's necessary!).
From beginning to end, Ween has proven once again that they can still stop on a dime and give you nine cents change, and I thank them for allowing those who were unable to personally attend an opportunity to share in the excitement of a truly special evening!
